The Attitude of Gratitude: How Gratitude can boost your Magickal and Spiritual Practice.

In the spirit of the upcoming Holiday of Thanksgiving (in America), I wanted to talk about Gratitude and how that applies to you Magickal and Spiritual Practice!

We’ve all probably heard about gratitude practices and how it can change and enhance your life. This may seem like a New Age and dare I say it, Whitey Lightly concept – yet it really is just another aspect of the ancient axiom “as above, so below”.

As above so below teaches us that all things are reflections of each other. All of life is a series of microcosms that mimic the macrocosm. The alveoli in our lungs which is responsible for our breathing are literal reflections of tree branches, which are the lungs of not only our earth, but are also responsible for producing our air, as we are theirs. Even the neurons in our brains bear a striking similarity to clusters of galaxies in our universe.

The cycle of gratitude and abundance is a similar concept. The law of attraction, like attracts like, which can be scientifically proven on the quantum level. When you approach life and situations with the attitude of gratitude, being thankful for the things you ALREADY have, your entire energetic frequency changes- your aura. By being thankful for the roof over your head- no matter how modest and humble or grand, for your mode of transportation whether it’s a personal vehicle or public transport, for the food you have to eat, for the clothes you have to wear- you are then projecting a higher vibrational frequency out to the universe and it will respond in kind to your energy- attracting to you exactly that which you desire. As Below, So Above.

We as humans are magnets. If we’re projecting low vibrational energy, the universe will continue to reflect that back to us. But if we’re projecting high vibrational energy, the universe will reflect that back to us.

How can you take on an attitude of gratitude when you feel like you may not have much to be thankful for? First of all it is important to recognize the importance of accepting responsibility for whatever is going on in your life. The events, conditions and circumstances that you’re currently experiencing are manifestations based on thoughts and emotions that you’ve had at some point in the past. It is due to those thoughts and emotions which represent the seeds that you are experiencing whatever outcome you currently are. This can be hard to swallow, I know. I’ve been there. Here is what you can do to develop the attitude of gratitude:

  1. Make a list of all the things you are grateful for! You have literally created MOST things in your life. You are a creator. Be grateful for everything. From having a place to live, loved ones, a job, a little bit of money, friends, pets and children. Be grateful for all of it, take nothing for granted.
  2. Stop focusing on the negative things that have happened. By focusing on the negative constantly you are basically putting a laser target on that energy and the universe will notice and think “OH, I suppose they want more of that” and dish out appropriately. As below, so above.
  3. Consider keeping a gratitude journal and journaling daily about what you are thankful for that day.

How does this boost your magickal and spiritual practice? When you are filled with true gratitude towards the Universe, the Gods, the Ancestors, the Divine- you will experience the magick of the universe daily and look in awe at the world we live in. You will begin to understand how you are a part of the macrocosm and gain wisdom which will make you an incredibly self-empowered individual.

Give Thanks, Wild Ones.

Well said, sister. I will share this.
In my opinion, this is also where “As within so without” also comes into play.
